How to freeze/unfreeze your account

To freeze your account:    

  • Go to the Profile section in your Dashboard.  
  • Click on ‘Freeze/Unfreeze account’.   
  • Review what happens when your account gets frozen.   
  • Confirm your decision.

To unfreeze your account:    

  • Go to the Profile section in your Dashboard.
  • Click on ‘Freeze/Unfreeze account’.   
  • Follow the instructions.  

Freezing and unfreezing rules

  • You can freeze/unfreeze your account only once.     
  • Your account must be unfrozen within 6 months, or it will be automatically closed.     
  • If you have a positive balance when your account is closed, you can request a funds withdrawal by calling the Customer Care team. 

What happens when your account is frozen

Blocked account    

  • Your account will be blocked.   
  • No adding, sending, or moving money between sub-accounts.      

Debit card restrictions    

  • Your debit card won’t work for transactions.      

Premium subscription    

  • No subscription fees during freeze.
  • Accrued interest credited post-unfreeze.      

App access    

  • Log in and check balance.
  • Navigate within the app. 

Using the Western Union Money Transfer app and westernunion.com

  • Freezing your Digital Banking account allows you to access westernunion.com and the Western Union Money Transfer app with your email and password.
  • Unfreezing your bank account means you can only access Western Union services on the Digital Banking app, as westernunion.com and the Western Union Money Transfer app will no longer be available.
  • The freeze and unfreeze actions can only be performed once.
