Federal law requires Western Union to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who establishes a Wallet in order to help the government detect and prevent the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities.
Therefore, as a condition of creating a Western Union Wallet, you will be asked to provide or confirm certain identifying and other personal information, including your full legal name, residential address, email address, phone number, date of birth, and taxpayer identification number (e.g., Social Security number or ITIN). From time to time, as well as in connection with new or additional Wallet products or services, Western Union may ask you to confirm or reverify your identity or may require that you provide certain additional information or documents, such as confirmation of your country of birth or a copy of an identification document (e.g., driver’s license or passport).
